GoInstant acquired by Salesforce.com
Salesforce has recently announced that it will be acquiring the start-up business GoInstant. Although the exact details of this deal have not been disclosed it has been widely reported that the transaction stands in the region of US$76 million (approximately GB£50 million).
GoInstant offer a “Co-browsing” service not dissimilar to other screen sharing tools, in that you share your screen with other users. What’s different about GoInstant is there is nothing to download & install for your users and as the name suggests everything is “instant”! In addition the product also runs on all web browsers and mobile devices so there should be no compatibility issues to wrangle with.
GoInstant already have a number of customers who use the service to improve customer service and drive sales through the web. The company was founded back in 2010 by Jevon MacDonald and Gavin Uhma who set out to develop a tool that would allow end-users to remotely browse the same web page at the same time. It was started with seed funding of $1.7m provided by a number of investors.
